While enrolled at Lamont, Thomas studied with Kenneth Cox, obtained his Bachelor of Music degree and was awarded several distinct honors, the most notable of which were the 2008 Presser Scholar Award, 2009 Senior Recital of Distinction, and the 2009 Outstanding Undergraduate in Performance award. Outside of academia, Thomas has had the honor of competing and placing 5th, in the Denver Lyric Opera Guild’s annual vocal competition

Thomas specializes in Opera and German lieder, although his repertoire list includes pieces from Musical Theater, French melodié, and Italian art song. Under the direction of Maestro Lawrence Golan and Maestro Lawrence Leighton Smith, Thomas has had the honor of singing the following roles: Schaunard in La Boheme, Guglielmo in Così fan tutte, Valentin in Faust, and Escamillo in Carmen.

While studying in Vienna, Austria, Thomas received expert instruction on the genre of German lieder. This instruction, acquired by mezzo-soprano Paulette Herbich and voice coach Russell Ryan, gave Thomas quite the taste for art song cycles, specifically Germain lieder. Due to this love of art song, Thomas prepared and performed many song cycles. The most notable being Dichterliebe, by Schumann; Songs of Travel, by Vaughan Williams; and Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen, by Mahler.

Currently, Thomas resides in Denver, CO. Studying with Kenneth Cox, he is preparing for competitions, working on new musical endeavors, and readying himself for his Masters Degree at the University of Denver.

renewing old acquaintances, and learning the challenging melodic and rhythmic variations in the rich tradition of Indian music.
While on the surface the film takes the form of a musically-driven travelogue where we get to see Gregory traveling by plane, car, boat, taxicab, and on foot, the story is truly one of self discovery and renewal.
