BOULDER, Colo. June 18, 2024 — Kicking off its 2024-2025 season, Boulder Symphony announced its highly anticipated fourth annual July 4th Concert Celebration, taking place at the iconic Boulder Bandshell, located at 1212 Canyon Boulevard. The concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. and conclude at 8:30 p.m.

Boulder Symphony’s annual July 4th concert is a curated program of music that will captivate and inspire audiences of all ages. The concert will feature an array of beloved compositions, showcasing the incredible talent and passion of the symphony’s musicians.

The program includes symphonic classics, from Bernstein’s Candide to Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, and Beethoven’s Wellington’s Victory. The symphony will celebrate music across the Americas, including the popular Brazilian hit tune “Tico-Tico no fubá” and Conga del Fuego Nuevo, and the Boulder premiere of Colorado composer Matt Browne’s Barnstorming Season. Also featured will be John Williams’ music from Star Wars, Jurassic Park, and other cinematic classics, and patriotic tunes by John Philip Sousa.

Devin Patrick Hughes, Boulder Symphony Conductor and Music Director, shares:

“This is one of my favorite shows each season! I’m excited to bring the most fascinating film scores, patriotic tunes, and classical hits to our Boulder community at the Bandshell to celebrate Independence Day!”

This concert is held in partnership with Boulder Arts in the Park — a series in collaboration with the City of Boulder, Create Boulder, and Visit Boulder — highlighting the joint spirit of the local arts community. Dr. Elizabeth Alvarado, Executive Director of Boulder Symphony & Music Academy, says:

“This year’s July 4th concert is a true celebration of community and artistry. We are thrilled to bring such a diverse and dynamic program to the Boulder Bandshell, uniting our community through the universal language of music. This event is a testament to the passion and talent of our musicians, and we look forward to sharing this special evening with everyone.”

Tickets for the concert are $15 for general admission adults and $5 for general admission children under 16. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure their seats, as this is a highly popular event that has sold out the past three years. There will also be seating at the base of the stage for those who want to bring their own lawn chairs and sit in the front row. Guests will have the opportunity to purchase refreshments from the beverage stand and food from Rang Tang Craft Barbecue.

In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held down the street at Grace Commons, 1820 15th Street.
