BOULDER, Colo. Nov. 10, 2022 — The Jared Music Foundation has partnered with Boulder Symphony & Music Academy to provide full scholarships to students in Boulder County for private music lessons with musicians of the Boulder Symphony.
Jared Music Foundation was formed after the founder’s son, Jared, tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident six years ago. Jared was a drummer and avid musician.
The partnership aligns with BS&MA’s mission to demystify classical music and make music lessons more accessible. By offering these scholarships, BS&MA can continue to strengthen music education in Boulder County.
Music training has been shown to improve the quality of a child’s future life. A study conducted by Concordia University’s Dr. Virginia Penhune demonstrates that musical training positively impacts brain development in young children, resulting in long-term benefits in brain structure and motor abilities. “Because learning an instrument requires coordination between hands, eyes, and ears, the child benefits from a stronger connection between the right and left hemispheres of the brain. As a result, listening and communication skills prove to be stronger into adulthood.” [1]
By partnering with Jared Music, BS&MA will provide students in Boulder County a full one-year scholarship to learn how to sing or play a musical instrument taught by musicians in the Boulder Symphony.
During Colorado Gives Day on December 6, 2022, any donation made to the Jared Music Foundation–Boulder Symphony Music Academy Scholarship Fund will be matched 50%.
