Alexi Whitsel

Violinist Alexi Whitsel has performed for audiences across the United States in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Seji Ozawa Hall, Boettcher Concert Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, and The Hollywood Bowl. His favorite acoustic in which to play is the Wells Fargo tunnel on the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder, Colorado.

Praised for his “silvery tone” (South Florida Classical Review), Alexi travels to Massachusetts twice a year to perform with LyricaBoston A Citizen’s Artist Orchestra. In 2014 he toured as assistant concertmaster with the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYOUSA). He has also performed with the New York String Orchestra, Interlochen Arts Academy Orchestra, New England Conservatory Symphony, and the River Charles Ensemble. He currently plays in the Boulder Philharmonic, Boulder Symphony, Greeley Philharmonic, Fort Collins Symphony, and Arapahoe Philharmonic.

Alexi received his undergraduate degree in Music from Indiana University where he studied with Dallas Symphony Concertmaster Alexander Kerr on the Friends of Music Scholarship. Alexi currently studies violin with world-renowned soloist, chamber musician and pedagogue Charles Castleman in Miami, Florida.

When he’s not playing or teaching music, Alexi enjoys hiking beautiful trails, learning about the intersection of neurobiology and psychology, cooking, and enjoying a variety of delicious cuisines with friends and family.
