Andrew McNew

Mr. McNew is a Colorado native and has been active as both an educator and musician in the Denver metro area since 2004. Primarily a low brass artist, Mr. McNew has held the position of principal trombonist with the Boulder Symphony Orchestra since 2011. He is also a member of the reggae-rock group Highway 50 and performs salsa/Latin music with Remezcla and Kizumba. Mr. McNew has recorded for local and international artists in numerous genres: folk, rock, hip hop, reggae, afrobeat, and African music.

Mr. McNew holds a liberal arts degree (’98) in music performance from Fort Lewis College and a master’s of music (’04) in Instrumental Performance: with emphasis in Jazz studies from the University of Denver. He has also completed extensive coursework in both music performance and education at the University of Colorado Boulder and the Metropolitan State University of Denver. His approach to teaching is one that is based on establishing a system of trust. It is also his mission to meet every student where they are in their journey and provide them with the tools for success and making music fun.
